1. Introduction, Definitions, and Interpretation
Introduction. Trust and security are core to Chrisborough. This Policy sets out how we handle information across our Sites and Services.
Our standards. We handle data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and applicable financial-sector requirements, and we apply appropriate safeguards to payment information.
Definitions. Define key terms used throughout: Personal Information, Partner, End User, Beneficiary, Services, Sites, Processing.
Our roles. Because Chrisborough provides payout infrastructure to businesses, our role depends on the data. For our partners, their representatives, and our site visitors, Chrisborough is the data controller. For end-user and beneficiary data a partner sends us to process a payout, the partner is the controller and Chrisborough acts as a processor on the partner’s instructions.
2. Information We Collect
• Provided directly: as a regulated financial institution, we collect identity and contact details (name, address, phone, email, date of birth, government-issued ID numbers), business and licensing details for partners, and information you give when you transact, contact us, or provide feedback.
• Transaction information: amounts, dates, references, and beneficiary details for payouts we process.
• Collected automatically: device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, mobile carrier, and technical connection details, gathered through web logs and analytics.
• From third parties: verification, sanctions-screening, and business-information providers, and analytics and marketing partners. This may include contact, demographic, device, and usage information, which we may combine with data we collect directly.
3. How We Use Your Information
To provide and operate the Services and process payouts; to verify identity and run KYC, KYB, AML, and CFT checks; to screen transactions and prevent fraud and financial crime; to meet our legal, licensing, and regulatory obligations; to secure, maintain, and improve the Services; and to communicate with you about your account and, where permitted, relevant updates.
4. Our Disclosure of Your Information
We share information with payout partners and financial institutions to complete transactions; with regulators, law enforcement, and auditors where required by law or our licence; with service providers who support the Services under confidentiality obligations; and in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to this Policy. We do not sell personal information.
5. Our Legal Basis for Processing Your Information
We process personal data where necessary to perform our contract with you, to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation, for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Services, or on the basis of consent where required. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time.
6. Online Analytics
We use analytics tools to understand how our Sites are used. These may set cookies and collect technical and usage data. See our Cookie Policy for detail and choices.
7. Your Choices and Data Subject Rights
Subject to the NDPR, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, request portability, and withdraw consent. For end-user data we process on a partner’s behalf, we direct requests to that partner. To exercise your rights, contact [email protected]. Where you decline to provide information necessary for a Service, that Service may be unavailable.
8. Email Unsubscribe
You can opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in each message. We will still send essential service, security, and compliance communications related to your account.
9. Account Preferences
You can review and update your account information and communication preferences in your dashboard, or by contacting us.
10. Cross-Border Transfers
Where we transfer personal data outside Nigeria, we apply safeguards required by applicable data-protection law and use appropriate contractual and organisational protections.
11. Security Measures
We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, audit-ready logging, and transaction screening, and we apply PCI-DSS standards to payment information. See the Trust Center for detail. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
The Services are intended for businesses and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
13. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the Services and to satisfy the retention periods required by law and financial regulation, after which we delete or anonymise it.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
Our Sites and Services may link to third-party sites and services we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to review their policies.
15. Changes to this Privacy Notice
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and where required we will notify you.
